Bella Bridesmaids is a national franchise that’s all about a personal, customizable experience for each bride and bridal party. The current franchise owners are a mother-daughter team that bought the company in 2012 after opening their own Bella Bridesmaids in 2007. Daughter Erin says she and her mom make a fantastic duo. “She has an amazing head for business, and I love fashion and most importantly, we simply love a fabulous wedding! We believe this is our destiny, our real purpose, to help each bride find the perfect bridesmaid dresses and have a ball doing it!” They wanted to build a business where everyone feels at home, and Bella Bridesmaids Savannah is no different.
For this shoot, we got to work with the incredible Amber Elizabeth Weddings! Amber is a photographer based here in Savannah, who focuses on images that are joyous, classic, and authentic. Amber works with all of her couples to ensure their wedding experience is perfect. From the engagement session to the final album you can hold in your hand, every step is carefully overseen by Amber. She is not just a photographer, but a friend who will be crying all the happy tears with you as you walk down the aisle!
Katharine’s Bella Bridesmaids Savannah
Several years ago, Katharine Josephson was in a wedding in Charleston, and she had the wonderful experience of getting her bridesmaid dress at the Bella in Charleston. The owner of that shop approached Katharine and asked if she’d be interested in opening a Bella Bridesmaids Savannah. After some research, Katharine decided it would be a wonderful opportunity.
Katharine found the perfect location right next to The White Magnolia in Savannah (formally called Bleubelle Bridal)! The bridal boutique wanted to downsize and focus on just bridal gowns, so Bella took over their boutique space with Katharine leading the way. Bella Bridesmaids Savannah opened in the fall of 2018.
Katharine’s Top Three Tips for Bridesmaid Dress Shopping
Go to the Store and Try Them On
Go in and try on the dresses. See and feel them and pay attention to how they look on YOU! Can’t get to a store? Choose your top three favorites, and we will ship a try-on box to you for a $25 shipping fee. The dress often looks completely different on the hanger than on the body. So, even if you are not sure you love it on the hanger, try it on anyway! You might be surprised.
Order in Advance
Make sure to have plenty of time to order. We suggest ordering your bridesmaids’ dresses six months ahead of time. The dresses take 12-16 weeks to make! Each one is made to order. Also, remember that alterations might take a few weeks or over a month! If you know you will need alterations, even just a hem, you want plenty of time.
For the Bride: Create an Online Showroom
Create an online showroom for the bride of the style(s) and color(s) she prefers, and each bridesmaid goes to the showroom near her home to make her choice(s). Then, the bride gets the final approval of everything everyone is wearing. This is perfect for brides who have bridesmaids all over the US. With locations across the country, bridesmaids can go into the shop in their town or city!
Wondering about the top trends for 2021 and 2022? Katharine has you covered. She says brides are loving velvet and satin. “It’s not just chiffon bridesmaid dresses anymore! Brides can choose from a variety of fabrics and colors!” Other new trends are blues and greens. Baby blue, navy blue, and slate continue to be popular. Sage green and hunter green are perfect for an outdoor wedding!
